The Municipal Theater Niccolò Piccinni is the oldest theater in the city of Bari.
The theater building was completed in 1854 and inaugurated on May 30 of the same year with a staging of Poliuto by Gaetano Donizetti. In 1855 it was named after the Bari composer Niccolò Piccinni.
The theater is located on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, an important street in the city, near the Isabella d’Aragona Gardens.
